Ortigas Center began as the 4,033-hectare "Hacienda de Mandaloyon", an estate from the Augustinian Order. In the following years, there were several changes of partners. On July 10, 1931, the company was incorporated “Ortigas, Madrigal y cia., S. en C.” as a limited partnership by shares (sociedad comanditaria por acciones). The parties to the partnership were Clyde A. Dewitt, Vicente Madrigal, B.C.M. Johnston, Fulgencio Borromeo, Manuel L. Quezon, and Francisco Ortigas (Don Paco).
Known establishments were also located in Ortigas Center such as San Miguel Corporation, Jollibee Foods Corporation, the Philippine branch of HSBC, Shangri-La hotel and Robinsons Galleria. Protuberant engineering firms are also located in this district such as WSP Group, Parsons Brinckerhoff, and Sinclair Knight Merz. Ortigas' skyscrapers and buildings were housed by hundreds of companies, and the district earns approximately 40 percent of the total proceeds of Pasig City.
